Presentations are appropriate for all age levels, and pre-registration is not needed but is recommended in busy spring months. This unique program is presented by teams of college, high school, and middle school students. Students Teaching Students Presenters will answer audience questions from the audience. This program is offered in the Zoo amphitheater and includes animal facts and the chance to get a close look at – and even touch – live animals. Applications do not become available until April 1st. All teens interested must complete an application form and submit a recent proof of negative TB test. This is a very competitive program and it includes a fee. Approximately 50 students are admitted each summer to work in special areas of the Zoo. The Summer Teen Program is a nine or ten week service-learning opportunity for students entering 8th-12th grade. These events fill up early, so a two-week notice is recommended. ![]() Contact the Education Department to request more information and receive a registration form. The minimum rate for groups smaller than 15 is $525. FEE: $35 per person, with a minimum group size of 15 people. This is a very popular program for scouts and other youth organizations. After “indoor-camping,” participants eat an outdoor breakfast and receive a certificate. Spend the night at the Zoo and enjoy a pizza party, flashlight tour of the zoo, and a “batty” bed-time story. Starlight Safari Sleepover – Night at the Zooįor groups with kids ages 7 and up. These exciting summer camps offer games, story-time, zoo tours, and up-close encounters with animals. The Zoo has changed throughout the years, however, one thing remains the same.Spring Break Camp – Enroll your child for a week-long camp during Spring Break. Most recently, the Zoo has added El Mundo Huastec y Totonac, Colobus Crossing, and The Otterbahn exhibits. Children can enjoy outdoor play at the Zoo’s enchanted South Texas-themed playground that features sensational one-of-a-kind play structures. Thanks to the City of Brownsville, our entire community and some very generous donors, there is much more to see at the Zoo compared to when it first opened…We now have a South-American walk-through aviary, an aquarium featuring local ecosystems and their aquatic residents, a herpetarium and multiple opportunities for families to interact with zoo animals.
